Topical anaesthetic is applied to reduce any discomfort. You may experience a slight tingling or scratching sensation. Once the treatment is underway, more anaesthetic is applied and you should feel very little discomfort.
You may experience any of the following:
• Slight swelling
• Numbness for up to two hours
• The colour will appear much darker for up to 7 days
• Lines may appear thicker until the healing process has taken place.
Treated area may develop slight scabbing which will need to be kept moist with ointment supplied. If ointment not applied and treated area left to dry up can cause loss of colour. For first couple of weeks we do not recommend sun exposure. As treated area begins to heal area may become itchy this is nothing to be concerned about all part of healing process. As scabbing begins to flake off over next 7 days do not be alarmed if You experience loss of colour (pigment) after the initial healing has taken place This is due to your skin cells healing over the area where the pigment has been placed. Colour can take up to 6 weeks to come fully to surface and form and for the cells will settle and the colour returns.
You will need to wait at least 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure before any further treatment can be undertaken, this is so that I can see exactly what pigment is present and to ensure that your cells have completely healed and that no scarring is likely.
This is dependant on how well the anaesthetic works, I always ensure that you feel as little discomfort as possible, therefore, I usually allow up to two hours for your first treatment including consultation .
